FUNAAB: school shuts down as students engage in violent protest over the Death of fellow Student

Report reaching us that Federal University Of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAAB) school has been shut down by the school management till further notice after the “violent protest” of Students which was said to be “earlier peaceful”.

According to NAIJALIKERZ correspondent in FUNAAB, the protest was said to be earlier peaceful as students were agitating over the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Olusola Oyewole being unconcerned about the welfare of the students living off-campus. During the process of their protest, the Police – while trying to stop them – fired a stray bullet which claimed the life of an 100 level student of COLERM, FWM.

A FUNAABITE whose name withheld said:
“Today was supposed to be a normal day until thieves came to rub and our management refused to do anything about it.
Funaabites just wanted a peaceful protest, we just wanted the Commissioner of Police to take us seriously and look into the case of the continuous robbery. We wanted the management to know that students living off campus lives matter and not ignore us.
Sadly a student died through the hand of police that refused to protect us. An 100 level student for that matter, someone’s child, how would the parents feel?

Now we are to go home as the management has declared a Mid Semester Break.

What is wrong with FUNAAB? Where did all go wrong, everyone should please be safe.

This Session isn’t normal”

Another source said:
“Report has it dat the Ag CP has ordered the arrest of 150 students, so police are everywhere not only to maintain law and order but also to carry out the CP’s order…Beware”

“On behalf of the VC, all students are advised to vacate the halls of residence on an emergency mid semester break starting 18th of August
