Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on Sunday in Abuja congratulated Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on his coronation on Dec. 7 as the 51st Ooni of Ile-Ife. Atiku, in a congratulatory message personally signed by him, and made available to news men, wished the new Oba long and eventful reign.
Atiku said that he had admired the youthfulness and resourcefulness of the Oba since he was unveiled as the choice of the kingmakers to the royal stool. “The choice of Oba Ogunwusi venerates the totemic deep wisdom, courage and resourcefulness which the throne of the Ooni is widely acknowledged for. “It is not in doubt that Your Royal Highness made an early start in building a career and reputation in the private sector of the economy, which is a source of inspiration for many young Nigerians. “Your footprints in the real estate sector of the economy will continue to create the pathways for generations to come, that with an early start and an eye on focus, it is possible to attain greatness. “Kabiyesi, while wishing you a very long and prosperous reign on the stool of your forefathers, let me remind you with every sense of modesty of the additional responsibility that your youthfulness has put on your shoulders.
“This is to mentor and inspire youths to industry through education across every part of the African continent, especially Nigeria.” The former vice-president hoped that the coronation of Ogunwusi would herald a new dimension in traditional leadership.
“Your coronation is an epochal event for many of the youths in Yorubaland as it will be their first experience to witness the coronation of a very high ranking traditional ruler from that part of the world.
“Such an epochal experience could also be an opportunity to open a new chapter that will revise and reinvigorate the significance of traditional leadership in Nigeria,” he noted.
